Artist Statement
I create art because it makes me happy knowing that what I make can make people think. The pictures I take reflect my mood and emotions, when I am in a good mood, my pictures are bright and sunny, but when I’m feeling under the weather my pictures tend to drift towards the darker and bland end. I lean towards photography and Photoshop because I know that’s what I’m best at. The steps I take to getting a good photo are first, having inspiration, and if I don't then I simply wander around until I find some, then after I take a bunch of pictures I sort through them and find which one is my favorite and the best looking. Then I go into Adobe Bridge and edit the pictures brightness and other filters to change it to reflect my mood. My belief is that the world is beautiful and that we should respect it and that’s why my pictures are normally high spirited and bright colored. It takes me from start to finish taking a photograph and editing it about 1.5-2 hours. My work is different from others because I make sure I capture things in great detail, that’s why my preferred lens is the macro lens. I hope to get one of my photos recognized for a big award. Things that inspire me are nature and being outside in general. I would recommend going outside just by yourself, sitting on a bench, chair or even the ground, sit in different positions, take time just staring into one general direction with each position you are in and when something comes to your mind then snap a picture. I am trying to show the reader that you can make anything look good if you try hard enough, even if its a dying berry tree. I see happiness in the little things in my artwork, expressed by vibrant colors and a duller, yet still colored background.
